Jillian Goldin - Notes #10 - July 9th, 2008

Greetings!

It is with great pleasure that I present to you my tenth official newsletter... now in technicolor!  Don't be fooled; it's still just the same old me, but I felt it time to make things a little more interactive.  Three months after the album release, Origins has been gaining some serious momentum - so I have a lot of fantastic news to share!

Origins *Live Event* & Remix Contest

The generous folks over at OurStage.com have offered to host a live "PartyLine" event on my behalf this coming week, and I'd love for you to be there!  PartyLine is a real-time online chat and media-sharing forum, allowing artists like me the opportunity to host private get-togethers centered around news, releases, and just plain old fun.  But this one will be extra special for three reasons:
  1. EJ Quinn Strassel will be conducting a live interview with myself and zircon (Andrew Aversa) - my collaborator and engineer on Origins!

  2. OurStage will be promoting the event, so hopefully we'll see some new faces there.

  3. And this is the whopper... By popular request, I have decided to start up an official **Origins Remix Contest**.  Those interested in entering will be provided with all of the instrumental and vocal parts on each of three songs from my album, from which they can base their new interpretations.  I will be offering some great prizes/exposure to the winners... So I encourage you to try your hand.  ^-^  Everything you need to know (and download) to get started will be announced live at the PartyLine - so don't miss it!!!
Who: Jillian Goldin, zircon, EJ Quinn Strassel - and YOU
When: Tuesday, July 15th @ 8:00 pm EST

Where: OursStage.com/partyline/jilliangoldin (note: the link won't be active until this time)

OurStage  How: To enter the party, you have to register an account at OurStage.com
  (assuming you don
't already have one).  Don't worry; it's quick, painless, and of
course free.  Once you're logged in, just enter the above partyline URL into your
browser's navigation bar, and you'll be chatting with the rest of us!  It's that easy.

This should be a lot of fun.  Hope to see you there!  :>
(If you're interested in entering the Origins Remix Contest but unable to make it to my PartyLine, just shoot me an email after the fact.)

On the Radio

Many of you are already aware of some of the internet (eg. Mystic Soundscapes) and public radio stations (eg. NPR's Audiosyncracy) that have been playing my music in recent months.  But that list is very steadily climbing.  Here are just a few new places and things to look out for:

Nite Tides
Night Tides - an NPR program based out of Kansas City, Missouri - will now be playing
tracks from Origins.  The show, hosted by Renée Blanche, is an eclectic blend of
contemplative instrumental and electronic music that combines upbeat grooves and dubs
with soothing melodies that "whisper (softly) to the soul."  Here it Sunday evenings 8:00
pm - Midnight (Central).  If you're not within broadcasting range, you can tune in
  through their free website stream!

Mothpod
The Mothpod is both a podcast and live radio show featuring a broad range of artists from around the world that they deem the "best and brightest talent the music industry has to offer."  Not only has their host asked to add my music to their rotation, but he will also be conducting an exclusive interview with me this coming week!  I'll post an announcement on JillianGoldin.com when the episode is out, so stay tuned.  The show receives between 3,000 and 5,000 downloads a month!

RobKast
RobKast Radio, a Dutch spoken podcast with 500+ subscribers per episode, has made
me their July artist of the month!  The show is downloaded by fans across Europe, The
Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Great Britain, Russia, Japan,
and Italy - so it's exciting to see my music reaching an international audience, to say the
least.  You may have fun listening on iTunes...  English words pop out here and there.  :>

And more: Spirit Within, The Cadence Revolution, La Otra Orilla, Aries Era, High Orbit PodcastMedicine ShowNew Frontiers, Cheezmuzik, and Remarkably Mark Podcast.  Yippee!

In the Papers

The Lexington Minuteman and The Woburn Advocate, Boston area newspapers from both of my two hometowns in Massachusetts, have just released a very thoughtful story about my music and influences for publication.  The article appeared on the front page of the Advocate's most recent issue, and will also be printed in the Minuteman at a near future date.  I'm very excited to share this news with some old friends and mentors from home, who may be interested in seeing what I've been up to recently!   Video game enthusiasts: this is for you.

And in a Store Near You

Lastly, would you believe it?  Origins has earned itself a major distribution deal with Music Design, the leading New Age music distributor in the United States!  This means that the album will be appearing in brick & mortar stores across the country.  Know any spas or specialty shops in your area?  Then you just might want to peek around next time you drop by... :>  These folks are very confident they'll be able to sell a minimum of four to six hundred in-store copies by the end of 2008 alone!  I keep all rights to the music, of course, and will continue to sell it via my website, iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon etc.

So that's all for now.  I will be shooting my first music video this weekend, so no doubt you will be hearing about that next time.  Until then, thank you for your unbridled support.  See you at the PartyLine this coming Tuesday!  :D

Warmly,
Jill
